Born in the family traditional inlay blacksmiths, particularly of ornamental weaponry of Udaipur in Rajasthan, Shri Gopilal Lohar has mastered the most difficult art of ornamental inlaying of gold and silver on weapons like swords, knives, daggers etc. Maharana Bhimsingh of Udaipur was so much impressed with this beautiful craft executed by Shri Gopilal's ancestors in the early part of Nineteenth Century that he conferred on them royal patronage and gifted lands to the family for perpetual inheritance.
